Atalanta unmoved by Inter’s €45m offer

Date:

Transfer talks between Atalanta and Inter Milan over Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman remain at an impasse, with the Bergamo-based club refusing to lower their €50 million asking price despite Inter’s improved offer of €40 million plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

According to reports from Football Italia, Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Inter made their latest offer during Tuesday’s Lega Serie A meeting in Milan. The meeting, which was attended by officials from both clubs, was seen as a potential turning point in negotiations for the 2024 African Player of the Year.

Inter had initially tabled a €40 million bid, which was swiftly rejected. Their latest proposal, though slightly enhanced with €5 million in add-ons, still falls short of Atalanta’s firm €50 million valuation.

While discussions between the two sides continue, Atalanta are reportedly waiting for Inter to submit a formal written bid, as the current offer remains verbal.

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta hinted earlier this week that a resolution could be reached within “two to three days,” raising hopes that a compromise — potentially around €45 million plus bonuses — may be on the horizon.

Lookman, 27, has been a key target for Inter following his impressive season with Atalanta and strong performances on the international stage. Whether the Nerazzurri will return with a final bid sufficient to close the deal remains to be seen.
