The Lagos State Government will begin the second phase of rehabilitation works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge in Kosofe Local Government on Tuesday, August 19, with completion scheduled for October 1, 2025.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday. According to the agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the repair works will focus on restoring the bridge’s expansion joints inbound Lagos Island.
Bakare-Oki said motorists coming from the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway and Toll Gate will be diverted into a single lane about 50 metres before the construction site, with normal flow restored 50 metres beyond the work zone.
He advised Oshodi-bound drivers to use the Ojota Slip Road connecting Ikorodu Road inbound Anthony, while motorists heading to Victoria Island may either pass through Anthony–Gbagada–Third Mainland Bridge or use Ikorodu Road to Funsho Williams Avenue and connect to Eko Bridge. Motorists from Ikeja and nearby areas were urged to take Maryland to Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue before linking Eko Bridge.
The LASTMA boss assured that officers had been deployed to manage traffic, enforce compliance, and respond to emergencies. He added that mini and heavy-duty tow trucks and other road infrastructure have been stationed along diversion routes to handle breakdowns or accidents.
Bakare-Oki urged motorists to remain patient and law-abiding, warning that anyone caught driving against traffic or violating road laws will be prosecuted before the Lagos State Mobile Court.
