President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday paid glowing tribute to his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 65th birthday, describing her as his confidant, counsellor, and unwavering anchor through decades of political and personal trials.
In a statement, Tinubu praised the First Lady’s sacrifices, saying her “quiet strength and enduring grace” had shaped both their family and national life. “You are more than a wife. You are my confidant, counsellor, and the steady flame illuminating my path,” he said. He added that Nigeria owes her a debt of gratitude for her silent contributions to stability and development.
Vice President Kashim Shettima also lauded Mrs. Tinubu as an “inestimable mother of the nation,” noting her decades of service, compassion, and support. He said her impact, particularly through the Renewed Hope Initiative, would be remembered for generations. His wife, Nana Shettima, described the First Lady as a sister and mentor whose initiatives continue to inspire women and youth.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Senator Adetokunbo Abiru hailed Mrs. Tinubu as a pillar of love and strength. They cited her longstanding commitment to women’s empowerment, youth development, and education, as well as her humanitarian work.
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo said the celebrant exemplifies “a life of impact, devotion to God, and service to the nation.” Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang praised her as a unifier and advocate for the girl child, while Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago described her as a “pillar behind the President,” whose Renewed Hope Initiative complements the administration’s agenda.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, highlighted her rise from Lagos First Lady to Senator and now First Lady of Nigeria, calling her an inspiration across generations. He said her humanitarian interventions had touched displaced persons, orphans of fallen military personnel, and vulnerable communities.
Other tributes came from Senate Appropriations Chairman Solomon Adeola, who called her a “true mother of the nation,” and Mrs. Fatima Tajudeen, wife of the House of Representatives Speaker, who commended her enduring service through initiatives such as the “Oluremi @ 65 Education Fund.”
