Toddler Mauled by Dogs at Unlicensed Georgia Daycare

Date:

A 48-year-old woman in Georgia has been arrested after two Rottweilers fatally mauled a two-year-old boy, Kaimir Jones, while she was asleep at her home daycare.

Police said officers found Kaimir dead in the backyard of Stacy Wheeler Cobb’s Valdosta residence around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 5. Investigators believe the boy left the house unnoticed and managed to open the kennel where the dogs were kept while Cobb was taking a nap that lasted more than two hours.

According to police, Kaimir’s mother had left him in Cobb’s care, and he was the only child present that day. Authorities allege Cobb frequently looked after as many as 10 children despite operating without a license.

Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan described the attack as a “horrible and tragic event that should never have occurred,” citing negligence as the cause. “Because of this offender’s actions, a mother has tragically lost her child,” Manahan said.

Cobb has been charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to children. The two Rottweilers, along with a third dog on the property, were surrendered to Lowndes County Animal Control.

Kaimir’s mother, Adrianna Jones, said on a GoFundMe page that her instincts led her to leave work early to check on her son after hours without hearing from Cobb. “This was a heartbreaking, devastating, and traumatising scene that I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” she wrote.
