Oyo APC Accuses Makinde of Fabricating Impeachment Plot Story

Date:

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has dismissed reports of an impeachment plot against Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the allegations as a “badly written script” aimed at distracting the public and generating sympathy for the governor.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party alleged that the narrative was politically motivated and designed to portray Makinde as a victim, while claiming that the governor is facing increasing political challenges within the state.

Sadare also referenced reports that some members of the Oyo State House of Assembly had denied involvement in any impeachment plan, while rejecting claims linking President Bola Tinubu, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and former First Lady Florence Ajimobi to the alleged plot.

The APC further argued that Makinde should have been removed earlier, alleging abuse of office, mismanagement of local government funds, contract inflation, and diversion of federal relief funds, including money meant for victims of the Bodija explosion.

The party insisted that no amount of propaganda could prevent what it described as inevitable political consequences for the governor, adding that the allegations would eventually be scrutinised as evidence of misconduct emerges
