Hyderabad Police have arrested and deported a 33-year-old Nigerian man, Geoffrey Dozieobiibe, for entering India illegally through Nepal and allegedly associating with drug peddlers. According to The Times of India, Dozieobiibe was detained while acting suspiciously in the Tolichowki area and was later found to have entered India in 2019 without a valid passport or visa.
A senior police officer said that although no drugs were found on him, his activities and connections with traffickers in Hyderabad and Bangalore raised serious concerns. Authorities verified his identity through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office and the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing, after which an emergency certificate from the Nigerian Embassy enabled his deportation on October 2.
The case adds to recent concerns about illegal migration and drug-related offences involving some foreign nationals in India.
