Israel has announced plans to confer its highest civilian honour on former United States President Donald Trump in recognition of his support for the Jewish state during his administration.

According to Israeli media reports, the award acknowledges Trump’s landmark decisions, including recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocating the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city — moves that sparked international debate but were widely celebrated in Israel.

The Israeli government described the honour as a tribute to Trump’s “unwavering friendship and historic contributions” to the nation’s sovereignty and security. The presentation ceremony is expected to take place in Jerusalem later this year, though an exact date has not been confirmed.

Trump, who is campaigning for a return to the White House in 2027, remains popular among Israel’s conservative and religious communities. The upcoming award adds to his legacy as one of the most pro-Israel American presidents in history.
