Nigerian singer Ceeza Milli has claimed he played a key role in discovering and nurturing Ayra Starr’s talent. In a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, he said he first noticed the rising star when she was still in school and under the care of his ex-girlfriend, describing her as “my ex’s school daughter.”
Milli emphasized his impact on Ayra Starr’s early career. He revealed that he accommodated her for a period and watched her talent grow, asserting that the singer cannot deny his contribution to her journey in music.
Ayra Starr rose to prominence with her debut EP released in January 2021. Signed to Mavin Records, she gained widespread attention for hits like “Rush,” which solidified her position in the Nigerian music industry.
Milli’s discovery predates her official signing with Mavin Records. He noted that he first recognized her potential at a very young age, long before the label’s involvement, highlighting his role in her artistic development.
Ayra Starr was also discovered by Mavin Records’ Don Jazzy via Instagram. In December 2019, Don Jazzy reached out after seeing her music online, officially launching her professional career and eventually leading to her debut EP and mainstream success.
