The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the alleged terrorism trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, until March 10, 2026.
The adjournment followed a request by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, who asked for more time to study the case file after it was recently transferred from the Department of State Services to the prosecution office.
Oyedepo told the court that additional time was needed to familiarise himself with the facts of the case to ensure proper prosecution.
Counsel for the defendants, Mr. Adedayo Adedeji, did not oppose the adjournment but urged the court to strike out the case if the prosecution fails to commence trial on the next date, citing concerns over diligent prosecution.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted the application and directed the prosecution to open its case on March 10, 2026, when proceedings will resume.
