Naira Strengthens at Official Market Amid Rising Forex Reserves

Date:

The naira continued its upward trend against the US dollar at Nigeria’s official foreign exchange market on Thursday, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed.

According to the apex bank, the local currency strengthened to ₦1,371.51 per dollar, up from ₦1,376.19 on Wednesday, marking a gain of about ₦4.7 in one day.

In contrast, the naira weakened at the parallel market, falling to ₦1,440 per dollar from ₦1,330 recorded the previous day.

The currency’s performance coincides with a steady increase in Nigeria’s external reserves, which reached $50.03 billion as of March 11, 2026.

Thursday’s gain follows a similar rally on Wednesday, continuing the naira’s recovery against the dollar at the official market.
