Busola Oke Stands Firm Amid Music Style Criticism

Date:

Gospel singer Busola Oke has spoken out against critics of her music, expressing frustration that nothing she does seems to meet their expectations. She highlighted that she is often faulted for singing older songs, being compared to peers, or being considered too old for certain genres.

In a video message, Oke questioned why her actions are consistently criticized, asking, “Is there nothing I do that is good in your eyes? No matter what I do, it’s never right, and you always find fault.” She urged critics to allow her to pursue her music without undue pressure.

Oke explained that when she sings traditional gospel songs, critics say they are outdated, and if she sings contemporary styles, they complain she is too old for them. She emphasized the impossibility of satisfying everyone’s expectations in the music industry.

Earlier in an interview with Biola Bayo, Oke expressed frustration about the challenges of earning a sustainable income from gospel music, stating that talent alone does not guarantee success in the industry.

Despite the criticism and financial struggles, Busola Oke continues to make music, appealing for understanding and respect from both fans and critics while navigating the challenges of a demanding industry.
