Kanye West Cancels Paris Performance Plans Amid Possible Ban in France

Date:

Kanye West has postponed his scheduled concert in France amid ongoing discussions by authorities over a possible ban on the rapper entering the country.

The 48-year-old music star announced the postponement on his X account, stating that the decision to delay the show was made personally after “much thought and consideration.” He was expected to perform in Marseille on June 11 at the Stade Vélodrome.

The development comes as French officials, including Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan and Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, reportedly considered restricting Kanye’s entry over alleged hate speech concerns. Both officials have previously criticised his public statements and music content.

Mayor Payan had earlier said he would not allow Marseille to become a platform for promoting hate speech, adding that Kanye West was not welcome at the city’s stadium, which he described as a symbol of unity and inclusion.

The postponement adds to growing international controversy surrounding the rapper, with reports of other governments also expressing concern over his performances, while the situation in France remains unresolved.
