TCN Announces Temporary Power Outage in Parts of Ibadan

Date:

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a temporary power outage affecting parts of Ibadan, Oyo State, due to scheduled maintenance at the Ayede Transmission Substation.

In a statement signed by its General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company disclosed that the shutdown involves a 100MVA 132/33kV transformer and will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

According to the statement, the maintenance exercise is part of routine preventive measures aimed at ensuring the transformer continues to operate efficiently.

“The maintenance exercise will enable TCN engineers carry out routine checks on the transformer to ensure continued optimal performance,” the statement noted.

As a result of the shutdown, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the Express, Industrial, and Oluyole areas within the stated period.

TCN apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience and assured the public that normal power supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
