A soldier has been killed and another injured following an ambush on troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

The incident was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources in a post on Tuesday.

According to the report, the attack occurred around 12:53 p.m. on May 4 along the SPDC–Etekuru road. The troops had reportedly been deployed to assess a burnt Hilux vehicle when they came under heavy gunfire from suspected terrorists.

A fierce exchange of gunfire followed the ambush, resulting in the death of one soldier, while another sustained injuries.

The attackers were said to have fled the scene with two AK-47 rifles and also partially damaged a military vehicle during the confrontation.
