Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State have adopted Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced after a high-level meeting held at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House, where party leaders also pledged N50 million towards the purchase of Tinubu’s expression of interest and nomination forms.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, the decision was unanimous and aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the APC for victory in 2027.
A motion for Tinubu’s adoption was moved by Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi and received full backing from stakeholders present at the meeting.
Speaking during the session, Kano APC Chairman Umar Doguwa said the state chapter had initially planned to fully fund the nomination forms but later resolved to make a financial contribution.
“We have agreed to contribute the sum of N50 million towards the purchase of the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Doguwa said.
Stakeholders noted that the endorsement reflects confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms, adding that the move is intended to promote cohesion within the party ahead of the elections.
They also expressed support for Abba Kabir Yusuf as he prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle.
In his response, Governor Yusuf thanked party leaders for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and development-focused policies in Kano State.
“I am deeply honoured by this show of confidence from our party leaders and stakeholders. This support will inspire us to do more for the people of Kano State,” he said.
He further urged party members to remain united, stressing the need for collective effort to ensure progress and stability in the state and within the party.
