Security units arrest ‘takfiri’ element in Tunisia

Tunisian security units have arrested a takfiri element near the Algeria border, who is wanted for his role in a terror attack and his membership in a suspected terrorist organization.

The man, whose identity was not specified, is 33 years old and has been sentenced to life imprisonment, a statement from the Interior ministry announced on Wednesday.

In addition, the regional police of Bologna city, capital of Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy, revealed on Wednesday in a statement that two Tunisians are accused of financing foreign fighters, without specifying if they have been arrested or not.

The two men, aged 33 and 50, residing in Italy and in France, were responsible until last April, of the financing in favour of a “dangerous terrorist” of 30 years, registered on the lists of the fight against terrorism in Belgium, said the same source.
