Ex-Minister Amaechi Says He Was Forced Out of Two Major Parties

Date:

Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that he was forced out of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming his exits were politically engineered rather than voluntary.

Speaking during a television interview, Amaechi specifically accused former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife of orchestrating his removal from the PDP, saying they took control of the Rivers State political structure and pushed him out.

He further claimed that similar political conflicts later led to his exit from the APC, after which he moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting he was targeted for speaking out against injustice and internal party disagreements.

Amaechi also criticised Nigeria’s political leadership style, arguing that governance must reflect inclusivity across ethnic and regional lines, and warning that exclusion of any group could deepen national tensions.

He added that his disagreements extend beyond party politics to policy concerns, stressing that Nigeria’s complexity requires balanced leadership that accommodates all interests, while maintaining that his outspoken stance often attracts political retaliation.
