No looted Gambia cash found on Tinubu’s plane

Date:

tinubuFollowing widespread allegations that exiled former president of The Gambia Yahya Jammeh emptied the coffers of the country before going on exile in the evening of Saturday, January 21, 2017 on the private jet of APC national leader Bola Tinubu, sources close to the former Lagos state governor have debunked rumours that his jet was also used to convey the looted money.

“No such happened,” a source told The Nation. “In fact, it was impossible for looted monies to have been taken away on an aircraft that was in public glare. The radar of the international media, security forces and Gambian people was on the aircraft.”

“It is practically impossible to load millions of dollars on the plane. In any case, no money was loaded into the plane, safe Guinean President Conde, Jammeh, his wife, mother and son,” the source said.

Recall that the exiled former president was accused of emptying the coffers of the state before going into exile.

Specifically, he was accused of withdrawing over $11million within the last two weeks of his administration from the treasury of the West African country.
