The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed allegations that it is advancing a northern political agenda, calling the claims baseless and shameful.
ADC National Spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on August 10, 2025, was reacting to accusations by former party presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu, who claimed the party was working in favour of the north.
“It’s ridiculous, to say the least, and he should be ashamed of himself,” Abdullahi said. “ADC has, from inception, made it clear: it is neither a northern nor southern party. It is neither a Muslim nor a Christian party. It is not a club for old politicians. We are deliberately building a political movement focused on the kind of future Nigeria truly desires.”
The remarks mark yet another public confrontation between the ADC leadership and its former flagbearer, hinting at deepening fractures within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
