The elected president of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka, has pledged to work with all critical stakeholders for the development of the council.

Zakka, of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), was declared the winner of Saturday’s AMAC presidential election at the National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He garnered 19,302 votes to defeat Murtala Usman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 13,240 votes.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, shortly after the INEC statement, Zakka said he would work with all the candidates in the election to develop the area.

“I’m not the type to forget them. I’ll take them all. I call for you to come.

“Whatever politics they have, we’re going to bring them together and make sure AMAC is great,” he said.

The president-elect congratulated AMAC residents for participating in the election to give him his mandate.

“People came out from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm just to vote for me. I thank everyone

“I know that there are so many expectations of me and I ask God to give me the wisdom to guide my people.”

Zakka also condemned the cases of violence reported during the survey, saying, “Elections are not a matter of life and death.

He said two people, he did not specify, were killed in the process.

”Elections don’t have to be like that, because power comes from God.

“You are not looking for beings of power or importing thugs.

“So, we are not happy. They should allow people to vote for whoever they want.”

He urged security personnel to always do their jobs diligently wherever they are posted.
