APC Blasts ADC’s Stand on Obi’s Ambition

Date:

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the African Democratic Congress’ reported directive to Peter Obi regarding his 2027 presidential ambition, describing it as evidence of a failed political arrangement lacking structure, ideology, and internal democracy.

APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Tuesday, criticised the ADC’s public demand that Obi clarify his political plans. He said the development exposed deeper confusion within the opposition and underscored the absence of coherence in their political strategy.

According to him, the ADC’s contradictory stance—rejecting zoning while simultaneously issuing conditions to a potential aspirant—demonstrated disorganisation and ideological inconsistency.

“Nigeria woke up to yet another episode of opposition disarray and ideological bankruptcy as the African Democratic Congress publicly ordered Peter Obi to ‘make up his mind’ on his 2027 ambition, while simultaneously declaring that zoning is not on the table,” Oladejo said.

He argued that a party unable to define its own direction should not attempt to shape the future of the country, describing the situation as “a public quarrel inside a hollow coalition of contradictions.”

The APC further accused the ADC of operating as a platform built around the interests of one individual, noting that Obi had become entangled in the party’s internal conflicts.

Oladejo added that the ADC’s recent remarks suggesting that zoning may be considered indicated that its preferred presidential candidate might already have been predetermined, with other members recruited merely to create an appearance of inclusiveness.
