48 Darul-Kitab graduates get scholarship to study in Egpty varsity
No fewer than 48 graduands of the Darul Kitab Wa Sunnah College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Ilorin have secured admission at the Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt to further their studies.
The Proprietor of the College, Dr. AbdulKadir Salman Oba-Solagberu, stated this on at the weekend during the 2019 annual convocation of the institution.He disclosed that 800 students graduated across the various levels of Diploma, Senior Secondary School Junior Secondary School and Primary school respectively.
He stressed the need for parents and guardians to compliment the efforts of teachers of Arabic and Islamic education by giving needed support to the students for them to grow up to contribute meaningfully to societal development.
Dr Oba-Solagberu further assured that he will continue to do his best to contribute to societal development through Arabic and Islamic education even as harped on the efforts of completing the ongoing Darul Kitab University, Agbeyangi-Ilorin.
According to him, “Plans are on for the successful take off of Darul Kitab Wa Sunnah University in Kwara, the National University Commission (NUC) had given the University the first approval for the commencement of the structures” even as he expressed optimism that the NUC will give academic approval as soon as the ongoing construction project are completed.
He said the importance of Arabic and Islamic education is significant and manifold, saying that producing graduands with sound moral and Islamic knowledge testifies to the fact that he is contributing to the national development tremendously.
He therefore called on parents to attach seriousness to Islamic education just as they do to western education, saying that a child that combines the two knowledge stands the chance of gaining more exposure and more importantly be relevant in any situation he finds himself.
“It is against this background that we combine both Islamic and Western education in our College here. We have Arts class and Science class. That is why all our graduands can communicate effectively in Arabic and English languages” Solagberu said.
In his remarks, a Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, advised government at all levels to support teachings and learning of Arabic and Islamic education in order to curb the persisting insecurity and other social vices in across the nation.

He added that the knowledge of Islam will enhance harmonious working relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims towards promoting nation-building, growth and development in the society.
