Arsenal have not made a formal bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, despite interest ahead of the looming expiry of his release clause.
According to talkSPORT, the Gunners are fully aware that Eze’s £68 million release clause — comprising a £60 million fixed fee and £8 million in add-ons — will expire at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 1. However, the club has reportedly informed Palace they do not intend to trigger it.
Arsenal value the 27-year-old below the current clause and are instead open to entering direct negotiations with Palace in hopes of securing a deal on different terms.
Sources suggest Eze is interested in making the move to the Emirates, and personal terms are unlikely to pose any issues if the clubs agree on a fee.
Manager Mikel Arteta sees Eze primarily as a central attacking midfielder (No.10) but also values his ability to operate on the left wing — adding depth and tactical flexibility to Arsenal’s attacking options.
