Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the opening strike of the war, will be buried in the city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran.
This was reported by the Iranian news agency Fars, which noted that the date has not yet been set.
Khamenei, who was killed after 36 years of rule, originally hails from Mashhad—Iran’s second-largest city and where his father is also buried.
According to Fars, he will be buried after a large memorial ceremony to be held in Tehran.
