Armed bandits attacked the Layin Minister community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State on Monday evening, killing two young men and making away with a large number of cattle.
The assailants reportedly stormed the village at dusk, firing shots indiscriminately and forcing residents to flee for safety. The attackers then escaped with the stolen livestock under the cover of darkness.
Security analyst Bakatsine confirmed the attack in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Bandits attacked Layin Minister in Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State on Monday evening. Two youths were killed and a large number of cattle were rustled.”
A local resident, who spoke under anonymity, described the incident as swift and terrifying. “They came on motorcycles, heavily armed. Two young men were shot dead instantly, and they took a lot of cattle with them,” the resident said.
As of Tuesday morning, no official statement had been issued by the Katsina State Police Command regarding the incident.
