Bauchi police probe sudden death of NYSC member

Date:

The Bauchi State Police Command has begun an investigation into the sudden death of a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Dambam Local Government Area.

The deceased, identified as 28-year-old Nwokedi Chukwuebuka, was reportedly found unconscious in an apartment provided for corps members on Sunday morning. According to police spokesperson Ahmed Waziri, the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO) and colleagues discovered he was unresponsive while preparing for church service.

Efforts to revive him failed, and he was taken to a hospital where a doctor confirmed his death. His remains have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Azare.

Commissioner of Police Sani Aliu has directed a thorough preliminary investigation. A similar incident occurred in Adamawa State in 2023, when another corps member collapsed and died while watching a football match.
