Ekiti Council of Elders to Include Younger Affiliates for Modernisation

Date:

The Ekiti Council of Elders has announced plans to introduce younger affiliate members into its structure in a bid to modernise its operations and improve efficiency.

The Council’s President, Joseph Oluwasanmi, and General Secretary, Niyi Ajibulu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to bring “spice, vigour and strength” to the Council’s activities while expanding its developmental impact across the state.

The Council, which is traditionally made up of Ekiti indigenes aged 60 and above, serves as an advisory body on governance and public affairs.

As part of the new arrangement, eight pioneer affiliate members are expected to be inducted on Thursday at the Elders’ Resort Centre in Ado Ekiti. The selected affiliates include prominent individuals such as the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye; development expert Dr Margaret Fagboyo; CEO of Agbeyewa Farms Seyi Aiyeleso; international consultant Dr Temitope Longe; engineer Oladipupo Bamisaye; entrepreneur Lawrence Egunjobi; lawyer Mrs Oluwadola Abe; and broadcaster Oluwakayode Jegede.

The Council said the inclusion of affiliates is aimed at injecting fresh perspectives and modern best practices into its operations, as well as improving service delivery and governance recommendations.

It added that the new members are expected to contribute ideas, propose interventions in government affairs, and support the Council’s mission of promoting the development of Ekiti State.

The leadership reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to development, noting that its members remain a repository of experience and expertise across various sectors.
