Best African Music Performance: Tyla Emerges Winner at Grammys 2026

South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, adding another major international honour to her career.

She clinched the prize with her song Push 2 Start, beating strong competition from Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr, as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love,” who were also nominated in the category.

The win marks Tyla’s second triumph in the Best African Music Performance category, following her historic debut victory in 2024 with her global hit “Water.”

Introduced to spotlight African music on the global stage, the category continues to highlight the continent’s growing influence in the international music industry, with Tyla’s success underscoring the rising global appeal of African sounds.

The 68th Grammy Awards also celebrated Africa’s cultural legacy by honouring legendary Nigerian musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti with a Lifetime Achievement Award, further showcasing the continent’s lasting impact on global music.
