The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) has withdrawn the licenses of newly registered players from nine clubs over unpaid salary debts. The clubs affected and the number of players affected are:
Plateau United (14 players)
Lobi Stars (15 players)
Kwara United (20 players)
Katsina United (5 players)
Enyimba Int’l (18 players)
El-Kanemi Warriors (13 players)
Bayelsa United (18 players)
Akwa United (17 players)
Abia Warriors (23 players)
The NPFL’s decision comes after the clubs failed to resolve the salary issues despite extended moratoriums. The sanction takes effect from Matchday 10.
Clubs are urged to act quickly to address these financial problems and bring their players back to the pitch.
