“Caring for orphans and vulnerable children, best way to secure Allah’s favour”

Date:

Sheikh Labeeb Agbaji
Caring for the orphans and vulnerable children in the society has been identified as one of the best way to secure Allah’s favors on earth and hereafter.

An Islamic Scholar, Fadhilat Ahmad Labeeb Baba-Lagbaji made this assertion while delivering lecture at the annual Ramadan lecture of Waafah Islamic Orphanage Home, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Fadhilat Baba-Lagbaji explained that Allah emphatically warned against maltreatment and cheating on orphans in the Qur’an while Prophet Muhammad said whoever cared for orphan will be among the closest sets of people to him on the day of judgement.

He described children as special gift from Allah hence the need for wealthy individuals to take it upon themselves to adopt as many orphans and vulnerable children as possible.

The Islamic Scholar pointed out that some children became orphan due to unforeseen circumstances such as death of either or both parents while others find themselves in such category out of frustration and the fear of bearing the financial burden of taking care of the child.

Fadhilat Baba-Lagbaji also admonished those who are entrusted with the property left behind by parents of orphans not to see it as bonus as they shall give full account of everything before Allah, stressing that it is advisable to guard it jealously until when those orphans are old enough to take possession of the property.

He commended the founder of Waafah Islamic Orphanage Home, Hajia Rukayat Olagunju, her spouse and all those behind the idea of caring for orphans and vulnerable children in Ilorin and environs and called for support from all and sundry.

There were goodwill messages and special prayers for the management of Waafah Children’s Home and the orphans by Ustaz Kamaldeen Nimalmoullah and Sheikh Faoz Adeola-Atanda.

Earlier, the Administrator of the Orphanage Home, Mrs. Nafisat Akewusola who took guests on a facility tour of the center, said that it is currently being funded eighty by the founder and called on government, individuals and cooperate organizations to support the home in turning around the lives of the orphans and vulnerable children.

The annual Ramadan lecture was attended by individuals and Islamic faith based organizations including a legal practitioner and one time Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Barrister Abdullateef Okandeji and an entrepreneur, Alhaji Shakiru Oladotun among others.
