Davido Recalls Running Errands for Don Jazzy, D’Banj in Atlanta

Date:

Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist Davido has shared a candid story about his early experiences in the music industry, revealing that he once ran errands for music veterans Don Jazzy and D’Banj.

In a viral video, Davido recounted how, as a young aspiring artist in Atlanta between 2007 and 2009, he would freestyle for the duo and run errands for them, including food runs using his father’s luxury car.

“In Atlanta, 2007 or 2008 or 2009… In my father’s house, I was freestyling for Don Jazzy and D’Banj. He sent me to go and buy McDonald’s with my papa car — Rolls-Royce,” he said.

The anecdote, delivered with humor and nostalgia, sheds light on Davido’s humble beginnings and determination to break into the music scene despite his privileged background.

Davido, now one of Africa’s biggest music exports, has consistently emphasized that his passion for music goes beyond wealth or fame. In previous interviews, he noted that music was something he pursued out of genuine love and commitment.

Over the years, Davido has achieved global recognition, performing at major international events such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and Ballon d’Or ceremony, alongside fellow Nigerian stars Rema, Burna Boy, and Tems.

His reflection serves as a reminder of the long journey to success and the importance of persistence and humility in the entertainment industry.
