El-Rufai Visits EFCC Headquarters Amid Ongoing Investigation

Date:

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai has responded to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning over alleged corruption linked to his administration. The former governor, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja with hundreds of supporters.

El-Rufai’s appearance follows a previous standoff at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where he refused arrest last Thursday. The incident drew national attention and raised tensions between the former governor and the EFCC.

The former governor has publicly accused the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, of orchestrating the attempted arrest at the airport. He has maintained that the airport confrontation was politically motivated rather than a routine enforcement action.

Supporters who accompanied El-Rufai to the EFCC headquarters demonstrated solidarity, emphasizing their backing for him during the inquiry. The former governor’s presence indicates his willingness to cooperate with the commission despite past conflicts.

Authorities at the EFCC have not disclosed details of the questioning, but the inquiry is part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial mismanagement during El-Rufai’s tenure as Kaduna State governor. The matter continues to attract national media and public attention.
