Madam Lucia Onabanjo, wife of the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, the first civilian governor of Ogun State, has died at the age of 100.
Her death was announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by her daughter, Olubukunola Onabanjo, who is also the Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission. According to the family, she passed away on Monday, January 11.
The statement described the late matriarch as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, thanking God for her “long and fulfilled life” and the legacy of love, strength and faith she left behind.
Madam Onabanjo, born in 1925, was married to Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, who governed Ogun State from October 1979 to December 1983 during Nigeria’s Second Republic.The family said funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.
