Gov restates commitment towards digitalization of Kebbi TV, Radio

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has enjoined media practitioners to always uphold the ethics of truthfulness, fairness and balance in their reporting devoid of divisive and parochial tendencies.

The governor gave the advice at a two-day capacity building workshop for information officers of the Kebbi State Ministry of Information and Culture, which began this Tuesday at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, the governor acknowledged the contribution of media practitioners in information dissemination, public enlightment and education of government’s programmes and policies.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu affirmed the commitment of his administration to the digitalization of Kebbi state owned media outfits and provision of modern equipment for optimum performance and coverage by both Kebbi State Television Service (KBTV) and Kebbi Radio(KBC).

He commended the Ministry of Information for organizing such workshop to sharpen the reportage skills of information officers.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Abubakar Chika Ladan, the pioneer Director-General of the Information Ministry, the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Mahmud Mohammed Warrah, the Commissioner for Animal Health, Alhaji Aminu Garba Dandiga, who spoke about the necessity for media practitioners to shun negativity in reporting events.

In a speech, the Commissioner for Information, Barrister Rakiya Tanko Ayuba who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Garba Hamisu Zuru, explained that the purpose of the workshop was to provide training to its personnel who report news on daily basis, as well as training to those involved in features writing, programme, anchoring and news writing.

Barr. Rakiya expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for approving the conduct of the training workshop designed for Information officers of the Ministry.

Resource persons at the workshop include Veteran Journalists, such as Abdullahi El-Kurebe, the Director of Information Mallam Sirajo Umar Yauri, Garba Hamisu Zuru, Aliyu Jajirma and Awwal Warah.

Awards were presented to the best information officers in news writing, anchoring and features writing won by Mallam Murtala Gotomo, Isah Sani Argungu, Bello Sulaiman Argungu and Mukhtar Adamu Argungu.
