Stakeholders in Jigawa State have raised alarm over the deteriorating condition of abandoned federal roads, warning that they continue to endanger lives and property.

The concern was voiced during a sensitisation campaign on President Bola Tinubu’s mid-term report, organised by the Federal Ministry of Information at the Federal Secretariat in Dutse.

Among the affected roads are the Kwanar Dumawa–Babura and Gaya–Jahun–Kafin Hausa highways, which residents say have caused multiple accidents and fatalities. According to the stakeholders, although the Federal Government re-awarded contracts for the construction of the two roads in 2020, the projects remain abandoned.

Responding, Head of the Federal Information Centre in Dutse, Bashir D. Galadanchi, said the campaign was designed to highlight achievements under the current administration while giving citizens an avenue to express their demands. He assured that complaints raised would be compiled and forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation for necessary action.

Guest speaker at the event, Mubarak Adamu Cisse, in a presentation titled “The Northwest Milestone”, outlined some of the Tinubu administration’s achievements, including the establishment of five regional development commissions within its first two years.
