The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, will on Friday 21st February 2025 turban Alhaji Yakubu Layi Gobir as the 10th Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, stressing that the event will hold at the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin by 10am.
Yakubu Layi Gobir, a Pharmacist by profession and philanthropist par excellence was appointed following the demise of the 9th Sarkin Gobir, Alhaji Muhammad Yusuf Gobir.
He was educated at the American International School, Lome, Togo; New Delhi, India; and Stockholm, Sweden, Cheltenham College, England, the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1985.
Others institutions attended by the new Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate are; the Insitut European d’ Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), Fountainbleau, France, and Harvard Business School in Boston, USA.
The Emir therefore invites sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate and beyond as well as well-wishers to be part of the historic event.
