Kwara applauds WHO, LGAs health workers over campaign against polio

The Kwara State Government has commended the State Coordinator of World Health Organization (WHO) and Local Government Areas’ (LGAs) Health Workers for conducting quality assessment and campaign during the recently completed March 2024 Outbreak Response Campaign (OBR) across the sixteen LGAs in the State.

The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, gave the commendation on Friday in Ilorin during the Expanded Integrated Monthly Technical Review meeting for Heads of Department (HODs) and Directors of Primary Health Care, Local Government Immunisation Officers (LIOs), Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers (DSNOs) and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers (M&E ).

Dr. Elelu noted that the monthly review meeting is meant to evaluate the last OBR 1 Campaign, the challenges encountered during the implementation, to provide an open floor discussion and pave a way forward, which will go a long way to improve the next campaign.

The Executive Secretary appreciated the State Coordinator of WHO, his team and all LGAs Teams for working with the State as well as pushing through despite the challenges experienced during the last OBR.

She urged health workers in the State to increase synergy in the various teams by working together as a team to ensure that our health indices are improved before the next campaign.

Dr. Elelu commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing fund for health programmes and for his unwavering commitment to ensuring that quality health care service delivery is provided in all Primary Health Care Centres across the State.

In his welcome address, the Director, Primary Health Care System, Dr. Micheal Oguntoye, appreciated everyone for the efforts and dedication during the last OBR campaign .

He also appreciated the partners for their unflinching support in ensuring that our health indices are improved on.

In his remarks, the State Coordinator, World Health Organization, Dr. Emmanuel Eyitayo, appreciated the Management team of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency for the exemplary leadership regularly exhibited and the doggedness at ensuring that Officers do what is expected of them during campaign.

Speaking on behalf of other Heads of Departments, the HOD, Ilorin East, Hajia Rihanat Ajibola Suleiman, commended the State Agency and partners for the technical and moral support during and after the campaign.

She however promised more commitment from the LGAs Teams in the subsequent campaign.
