KWARTMA deploys 360 personnel for sallah, durbar in Kwara

No fewer than 360 Officers and Personnel have been deployed by the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) for Special Operations to monitor and control movement of people and goods during the forthcoming Eid-El-Kabir festival in the state.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the special operation will also cover the 2023 grand durbar/horse race organised by the Ilorin Emirate Council in a bid to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic before, during and after the festival.

The public relations and media officer of the agency, Olawuyi Gani, said this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday.

At a press briefing held by the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, CRTO Akeem Adegboye, the authority stated that 60 personnel were to be on regular patrol within the metropolis and 230 personnel are to man different chock points (Traffic Bottleneck Areas).

He added that other officers were deployed to different highways to forestall any form of accidents and emergencies.

Adeboye further explained that Roads like; Eyenkorin – Olooru – Bode-Saadu – Jebba, Ogbomoso – Otte – Airport, Zango – Oke-Ose – Oke-oyi and Ganmo – Amoyo – Ajase-Ipo highways would all be put under regular surveillance by KWARTMA to ensure safety of those traveling to and from the State Capital minding the increase in the volume of traffic during the period of celebration.

He also cautioned road users to be safety conscious before, during and after the celebration by obeying all traffic rules and regulations, avoid excess speed, be patient on the road always and adhere to all safety measures by avoiding overloading of passengers on commuter vehicles, tricycle and motorcycles.

He also warned garage operators and traders to desist from using the road to carry out their activities as this would attract severe sanctions to any one arrested disobeying this order.

While urging transport operators and travelers to avoid night travels, the KWARTMA boss pledged the Authority’s continuous selfless service to the people of the state in line with Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq’s vision for a new Kwara.
