Motor Dealer Allegedly Killed by Customs Sparks Outrage in Kebbi

Date:

The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Kebbi State Chapter, has condemned the alleged killing of one of its members, Tukur Alhaji Salihu, by operatives of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B, Kaduna. The incident reportedly occurred on February 7, 2026, between 11:00 a.m. and 12 noon along the Nagari College–Illela Yari axis in Birnin Kebbi.

Salihu, who was a passenger at the time, was allegedly shot multiple times in broad daylight. He was rushed to a hospital but later died that night and was subsequently buried in his hometown of Argungu. The deceased is survived by two wives, seven children, and his parents.

AMDON described the incident as disturbing and linked it to broader concerns over alleged extrajudicial killings and human rights abuses. The association noted that the killing has caused fear among its members and residents and emphasized the need for justice and accountability.

The association called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Customs Service, and other relevant security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. AMDON also urged the Kebbi State Government to intervene and provide support to the family of the deceased.

AMDON has reported the matter to the appropriate authorities and appealed to the public to remain calm and law-abiding. The group also called on human rights organizations to monitor the case and ensure transparency and justice in handling the alleged killing.
