Mourinho sought after by Brazilian clubs after Tottenham sack

Date:

Jose Mourinho

According to Brazilian football icon Rivaldo, Jose Mourinho will receive lots of job offers following his Tottenham sacking and could take over at a team in Brazil.

The Portuguese boss, 58, was sacked by Spurs on Monday but is already being linked with a host of jobs with football clubs like Celtic and Valencia.

Rivaldo says he isn’t surprised by Mourinho being in demand already and that Brazilian clubs are interested in signing him.

Mourinho signing for a Brazilian club will be very steep for a manager who, just years ago, was seen as the best manager in the world and has managed clubs like Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Mourinho has never managed outside of Europe, having held positions in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain.

However, Rivaldo reckons now is the time for Mourinho to work his magic in South America.

Rivaldo told Betfair: “Mourinho was sacked from Tottenham on Monday despite having the chance to claim the EFL Cup on Sunday.

“I think the Spurs board preferred to take immediate action on the back of the club not showing improvement going into the end of the season.

“I’m his friend and consider Jose Mourinho a great person and a fantastic manager with nothing to prove.

“His phone should start ringing soon with new offers.”

“I have heard about a potential move to a Brazilian club.

“This could be the perfect opportunity for a Brazilian club to try to make that huge signing.

“It would be a nice experience for Mourinho after so many years in Europe to try to impose his mastery on South America.”
