The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria says it has received with sadness and sorrow the death of Bishop Paul Olawoore – Catholic Bishop of Ilorin Diocese who also doubled as Chairman of Kwara State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

In a Tribute sent to the Mass Media and Kwara State CAN, the National Coordinator of the Group Alh. Ibrahim Abdullahi described the sudden death of the Cleric as shocking adding that the Bishop was ‘a Man of Peace’ who was cool, calm and admirable in the manner he discharged his duties as Catholic Bishop of Ilorin and CAN Chairmanmin Kwara State, adding that he had opportunity of interacting with him in the course of working together to sustain peace and unity with which Kwara State is known.

The Group recalled his role during the misunderstanding on the use of hijab by Muslim Students in Kwara Schools and stressed the need for Religious Leaders to emulate his leadership qualities with which the Late Bishop joined forces with the State Authorities, Security Agencies and the Muslim Leaders to douse the tension during the minor crisis in the State early last year..

MMWG which is a Body of Muslim Professionals in the Media and other disciplines, commiserated with Kwara State CAN and the entire christians in the State on this development and prayed for the soul of the Bishop to rest in peace.

It enjoined religious followers irrespective of the differences in faiths to imbibe the qualities religious peace, tolerance and understanding to enhance peace and socio-economic development of the Nation.
