Newly Sworn-In Batch ‘C’ Members Charged On Self-Discipline In Kwara

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has charged the newly sworn-in members of the National Youths Service Corps(NYSC) to be disciplined and embark on various camp activities that will increase their developmental skills.

Governor AbdulRazaq stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of the Batch ‘C’, Stream I Youths Corps members, at the NYSC Orientation Camp at Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, where the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, who was represented by Justice Tauhid Salihu Umar administered the “NYSC Oath of Allegiance” to the corps members.

The Governor, who was represented by the Kwara State Commissioner for Youths Development Amb. Sheu Ndanusa Usman, welcomed the corps members to the State of Harmony and urged them to participate in camp activities such as physical training, paramilitary drills, citizenship and leadership training, among others.

He advised them to make the experience of their service year exciting and highly rewarding, while assuring them that the State Government would create an enabling environment for them to thrive.

He advised the corps members to present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their families by exhibiting sterling qualities such as service to humanity and humility as enshrined in the NYSC motto.

“I can assure you that the government will continue to create an environment that promotes the well-being and security of Corps members who are deployed to Kwara State for their National service,” Governor AbdulRazaq noted.

The Chairman Kwara State NYSC Governing Board, and the Commissioner for Youth Development Amb. Shehu Usman Ndanusa, represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Dr. Mrs. Adenike Funmilola Ajide, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC scheme in Kwara State and admonished the corps members to offer selfless service all through the year and contribute significantly to the development of their host communities.

Speaking further, she commended the camp officials for their hard work and selfless sacrifice at ensuring the safety of the Corps members.

In his address, the State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support to the NYSC in Kwara and appreciated the corps members for their eagerness to go through the mandatory youths service year, stating that various activities had been lined up for their entertainment and education, while also admonishing them to strictly comply with all the rules required.

Mr. Onifade stated that a total number of 1603 Corps members comprising 860 females and 743 males were sworn-in at the Yikpata camp.

Also present at the event were the representative of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Samson Aliyu , representative of the Commandant Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) SC Babalola Sunday Stephen, among others.
