Nigerian Airports to get full ISO certification by December – FG

Date:

The Federal Government, through the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has set December 2025 as the target date to achieve full International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification for all Nigerian airports.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the new ISO policy integrates two international standards — ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) — into a single operational framework aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability across Nigeria’s airports.

Agbebire explained that FAAN has already achieved about 70 per cent completion of the certification process, with external auditors expected to arrive in November to assess compliance levels and address any identified gaps.

“We are targeting full ISO certification by December 2025. The ISO policy reinforces the operational principle that if it is not documented, it is considered not done,” the statement read in part.

The ISO certification initiative is part of FAAN’s broader effort to standardise airport operations, enhance service delivery, and align Nigeria’s aviation sector with global best practices.
