Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade in Lokoja have foiled bandits’ movements in Kogi State, neutralising three suspects and arresting a suspected logistics supplier, the military confirmed on Sunday.
According to Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, the Brigade’s spokesperson, the coordinated operation took place on Saturday, January 3, in Kabba Bunu and Yagba West Local Government Areas as part of ongoing efforts to curb banditry and kidnapping.
“Troops ambushed bandits moving toward Agbadu Bunu, neutralising two and recovering arms including an AK-47 rifle and ammunition,” Abdullahi said, noting that the ambush was based on credible intelligence from the Adankolo general area.
In a separate encounter in Saminaka village, troops, working with local vigilantes, neutralised one bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Additionally, a suspected bandit logistics supplier, Sunday Adedotun, was arrested. Items recovered from his residence included energy drinks, bottled water, soft drinks, and harvested farm produce.
Abdullahi emphasized that the operations reflect sustained pressure on criminals and their support networks. Brigade Commander Brig.-Gen. Kasim Sidi commended the troops’ professionalism and vowed continued aggressive patrols to deny criminals freedom of action in Kogi State.
