Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has alleged that former Labour Party flagbearer, Peter Obi, is already making plans to exit the newly formed opposition coalition under the ADC.
Kachikwu claims Obi has realised the coalition is merely a front for Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential ambition.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the ADC chieftain said the entire ADC structure has been compromised and repackaged to favour Atiku.
Obi, who joined the ADC coalition earlier this July alongside other opposition figures, had barely settled into the arrangement before declaring his 2027 ambition — all while retaining his Labour Party membership.
According to Kachikwu:
“The whole ADC structure is being packaged for the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Since I started warning people about what is happening, it’s becoming clearer. Peter Obi now understands that the coalition was built for Atiku’s ambition. From what we see, he’s already looking elsewhere. Everyone who intended to run now realises this isn’t a coalition it’s a hijack.”
Kachikwu further vowed to resist any attempt to use the ADC as a political vehicle for Atiku’s 2027 bid, insisting the next election must not be another round of class exploitation.
He promised to mobilize Nigerians with political awareness to ensure the electorate is not misled by familiar power players.
