Officials tasked on guidelines as over 1.7m applicants write JAMB nationwide

The board gave the directive in its Weekly Bulletin of the Registrar’s Office in Abuja on Friday.

He stated that biometric verification would be the only way of admitting candidates to the exam center.

The board said strict adherence to this directive was required by all involved.

JAMB had reiterated that all candidates would be registered in the examination room, using the Biometric Verification Machine (BVM), which would also serve as the attendance record, in accordance with its policy.

He urged officials to ensure that no candidate was kept waiting if they could not be verified, but to ensure that said candidate was recaptured at the center before leaving.

The board further stated that only genuine cases would be further dealt with in biometric engagement cases.

JAMB also urged its officials to ensure that all reporting forms provided for the exercise have been filled out and completed accurately.

He explained that the information gathered from the forms was expected to help the board “establish the events during the examination for reference purposes, as well as serve as evidence for punitive measures.”

The board said it would continue to consult with critical stakeholders, including technical and advisory officers, resident monitors, supervisors and its eight monitoring groups, to run a smooth exercise.

NAN reports that the board exercise was scheduled to run from Friday through May 16 at its 757 centers across the country.

JAMB had also warned its candidates that the ban on prohibited items was still in force and that the necessary sanctions would be imposed on violators of its code of conduct.
