Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to handle the case. The command urged residents to cooperate with security agencies, assuring them of confidentiality and protection of their identities.

This incident follows similar cases in the state, including a January 2025 arrest of a man allegedly attempting to exhume a skull in Abeokuta, and the October 2023 arrest of a pastor and three others for possession of a human skull.
