Peller claims Lagos tax bill targets his social media income

Date:

Popular TikTok content creator Peller has accused the Lagos State Government of imposing an excessive tax bill on him, claiming he was asked to pay ₦36 million in income tax by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service.

Speaking during a recent livestream with singer Peruzzi, Peller expressed frustration, saying he only rose to fame last year and does not have the means to settle such an amount.

“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” he said.

Peruzzi, however, urged him to fulfil his tax obligations, warning that failure to do so could lead to jail time. “Do you know you’re supposed to pay tax as a Nigerian? I won’t mention how much I pay, but it’s more than the bill they gave you,” the singer stated.

Peller argued that the figure was outrageous, noting that the government had never supported him during his TikTok sessions. He claimed the tax demand was a result of him flaunting his assets and disclosing his social media earnings. Peruzzi later advised him to request more time to pay, but Peller maintained that his income is solely from social media, not from Nigeria.
