The Vice President, Commercial at OAT Ltd. a premier commodity trading firm with a primary focus on the Minerals & Metals critical for the energy transition, Umar Oba Adelodun, has announced the launch of an employment campaign that will offer training and internship programmes to several Nigerian youths.

He noted that the scheme is to further bridge the gap of unemployment in Nigeria, ROYAL NEWS reports.

According to him, “The programme tagged, Oba Graduate Trainee Program (#OGTP2023) is tailored towards developing competencies and capabilities in leadership, employability and basic entrepreneurship knowledge and skills, helping them to thrive in the workplace and their career.

“The graduate internship programme is opened to graduates whom did not graduate with distinctions. The participants will have the opportunity to work and learn from any of the six available sectors, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, pharmaceutical, construction and solid minerals.”

Speaking on the initiative, Umar Oba Adelodun said, “the Oba Graduate Trainee Program (#OGTP2023) is one of my personal initiatives. This program is a channel that I have decided to use in tackling not just employment but the employability of my fellow youths across the country.

“I have carefully selected experts and experienced industry players to help steer and deliver the much-needed on-field experience to the lucky participants of the #OGTP2023. This is a first in its series as we hope to make this an annual program.

“As an industry player myself, over the years I have come to understand that some brilliant minds really do not get fully formed within the four walls of the University until on-site experience, training, or mentorship is impacted. The #OGTP2023 initiative is a 6-month training and internship program that I and the members of the board have carefully designed to help young graduates gain on-site experience across various industrial sectors.”

Further checks revealed that; “THE OGTP is divided into 2 parts: The first part is the training that focuses on the essentials of being a part of an organisation and the second part is a 5 months paid internship.

“The selection process will be strictly based on merit and performance to attract square pegs in square holes.
