Putin Sends Nowruz Greetings to Iran, Reaffirms Support Amid Middle East Conflict

Russia-Vladimir-Putin

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, extended his best wishes to Iran on Saturday for the Persian New Year, Nowruz, assuring Iranian leaders and citizens of Moscow’s continued support amid the ongoing Middle East war.

“Nowruz greetings were… sent to the Iranian leaders: Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

Putin wished the Iranian people strength in overcoming the ongoing crises and emphasized that Moscow “remains a loyal friend and reliable partner of Tehran” during this difficult period.

Russia, a longstanding ally of Iran, has strongly condemned the U.S. and Israeli strikes that began on February 28, which have triggered the broader conflict in the region. Moscow also condemned the killing of Iranian security chief Ali Larijani in an Israeli airstrike earlier this month.

Although Russia has not officially provided direct military assistance since the outbreak of hostilities, U.S. media reports indicate that Moscow is sharing military intelligence with Iran to support its drone and missile operations in the Gulf. The Kremlin has declined to comment publicly on these intelligence-sharing claims.

Iran has retaliated with attacks on U.S. and Israeli bases as well as other strategic targets across the Gulf, escalating the regional conflict. Russia’s diplomatic support underscores its continued alignment with Tehran during the crisis.
